Reading Notes: Nigeria, Part A

Nigeria: The Fish and the Leopard's Wife
Story source: Folk Stories From Southern Nigeria by Elphinstone Dayrell (1910)

Back when the fish lived on land, he and the leopard were great friends. The leopard had a very attractive wife, and the fish was jealous. When the leopard would leave, the fish would go and sleep with the leopard's wife. One day, a neighbor saw and decided to tell the leopard what was going on. The leopard was so upset and furious, he told the king about this. The king decided to punish the fish by making him live in water, and if he were to come on the land he would die. That is why fish live in the water.

I'm not exactly sure how I could go about turning this into my own story, but this is a very interesting story.
