As a student, I can almost confidently say that I have had a growth mindset. I do hold the belief that I can accomplish anything I want if I put my mind to it because my parents often told me that as I grew up. I have always accepted challenges, and get bored if things are constantly easy. Let me be honest though... I don't always take a failure well. Often, when I do "fail" at something, I tend to be a little hard on myself. When Carol Dweck brought up using "not yet" instead of failure, I thought that was amazing. In fact, I don't think I have ever really thought about it like that. I think implementing a "now" and "not yet" instead of the pass/fail system we currently have in schools would be very beneficial in fostering positivity in the minds of youth. As a mother, this resonates with me as well. I want my boys to keep trying at things, and not give up. I want them to embrace challenges and learn as much as they possibly can. Most importantly, I want them to be happy and have confidence in the things that they do. Growth mindset, in my opinion, needs to be the only mindset that is taught to our children and youth for a better future.
