Topic Brainstorm

Brothers Grimm

I do not know much about the Brothers Grimm, other than the movie that came out several years ago. To me, it was a very interesting movie that I loved watching because I loved the dark twist on classic fairy-tales. You can never have enough variations of classics, and I think I can get pretty creative with my own dark spin off of fairy tales. I will definitely have to read several of these stories to get some ideas, but also to make sure I can keep it original.

Children Raised by Animals

We are not who we are just based off of our biological makeup. We are also a product of our environment. Tarzan is the most popular example of a child being raised by animals. Because he was raised by apes, he resembles one based off of his posture, body language, verbal communication, and eating habits. However, we all know that humans and apes are very similar in many ways. What if a child was raised by an animal that is very different than a human? For example, what if a bear took in a child and raised him or her? This could get very creative. Perhaps I could create a storybook of a jungle school, where there are several different students who were raised by different animals.

Nursery Rhymes

I think I chose this topic because I'm a mother who loves to improvise songs while giving my boys a bath. Nursery rhymes can be so random and so much fun. I definitely think this would be a great topic to explore and get creative with. Normally, nursery rhymes are light-hearted and silly. Maybe I can put a dark spin on several classics, making a Nightmare Nursery Rhymes collection. I will have to look up nursery rhymes and see which ones I can imagine recreating and putting a dark twist on.

Animal Diaries

We all wish we knew what animals were thinking, or what they would say or sound like when they talk. We can make assumptions on what they would say or how they would think based off their behaviors. For example, I have this thought that if turtles could talk, they would talk super slow and be very boring. I've always found it comical when people do voice-overs of animals, or even if they do memes (like grumpy cat- he looks like he's grumpy so they make memes about him saying mean or miserable things). I, myself, enjoy giving my animals a voice. This could perhaps be a very fun topic.
